    Hi james.
Silvercrest is a brand sold by Lidl and as I`ve had other Silvercrest products in the past I cant say that I`ve ever had any problems with this brand.
I Googled your product and could only find a Toshiba ext. HD with 500gb capacity.
The stats for this model is that it can hold 142,000 digital photos or 131,000 dig. music files or 410 downloaded dig. movies.
So I`m hoping that you can work out if your files for saving will all be accommodated on the Silvercrest.

The surest way to back up eveything on your computer is to use a programme like Acronis true image and store it on an external hard drive. If your pc crashes and needs a reinstall of eveything it only takes a few minutes to reinstate it

      THE TRUTH
      The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

You need to see how much HD space you've used so far.

Go to My Computer and see how much of your Drive C that it shows being used.

Unless you've been downloading non-stop for months on end, 500 GB is probably plenty.

If you want to make it so you can gave an exact back-up ready-to-go in case your HD takes a dump, do what the other person suggested -- Make an image of your computer hard drive & store it on the external one.

The alternative is to just back-up your documents, files, videos, etc... to the external hard drive once a month or so.
