      What is your operating system?
The hard drive is internal or external?

Try to replace the sata cable .

            What motherbord do you have?

What kind of hard drives are installed on your pc? (sata, eide)

It's not the power saving settings is it?

the drive is a sata, my board is a GIGABYTE MA790X-DS4. power saving options dissabled. ive replaced the drive and put the weird harddrive in a usb caddy and draging things off that i want to keep. will have to see how this new drive will play out... thanks for your help guys...
