notebook 1012

i have a dell notebook 1012 under the battery you can put a data sim card in to get mobile broadband. bought a 3 sim card with 3 gig loaded put it into the slot went on 3s website registered the card got a message saying they would send a text with a password? its a laptop not a phone.wrang dell tonight spent 20 mins chatting like you do they said it should accept any mobile network ring 3. spent 20 mins talking to a lady she said i would need a dongle or ring GET THIS ONE dell for more help only they cant advise on this.anybody out there any ideas please its driving me crazy. i can buy a dongle and insert the sim card into it then put it into the usb but why when the card can go into the notebook less hassle and less stuff to get lost please please help.

what is the actual problem? Does the lappy see the sim card in device manager and you have the drivers loaded for it etc?

does it have a connection manager in which to load the 3 settings for mobile broadband.

i have downloaded from 3 the desktop helper ie gives all the infomation inserted the sim card into the notebook and nothing gone onto to register again it says they have sent a text to the number on the sim card but im on a notebook not a phone to recieve texes so no password think i might just buy a dongle to put the card in any one know of a cheapy cheers

why not just put the sim on an old phone then get them resend the text message, you do have credit on this sim card don't you?

it has credit and i dont have a phone which will take a three sim card. if anybody has a 3 dongle for sale at a good price please pm me thanks.
