BDS/IRCNite.cff virus removal

hi my mums lappy has ended up with this virus on it
think it was my brother,anyway shes running windows vista which im completely not familiar with,,shes asked me to sort it out and i would like a little help please on the best course of action to take
the lappy has avira anti virus installed but this dosent seem like it will remove it,at the moment i got it booted up in safe mode and im doing a full scan to make sure exactly whats gone wrong
would i need to download a seperate proggy,or a reg cleaner etc
any advice would be much appreciated

just to add that while it has been scanning it has also come up with the following detections

the scan has stopped midway and its asking me if i want to repair all or cancel
would i be right in thinking that i should press repair all and see if that solves it
im stuck

i managed to sort this out in the end,,got no replys on here,quite suprised,,anyway got one more question that hopefully someone can help me out with
i use avira anti virus,,,anyway after doing the scan i then installed ms security settings and it picked up another virus
my question is this
is it ok to run both of these proggys side by side ? if not which would you say is more effective ?
