Excuse me Jim.Mahoney, my brother sent me a Nokia C3-00 and an iPhone 4 from Canada and uses Rogers Wireless the both of them. The thing is that i live in south america and i want to use movistar or other. I was trying to unlock my Nokia C3-00 using a calc but it wasn?t successful (i think i did something wrong) and i already used my 3 opportunities. So when I try to use a different Simcard the phone asks me for the restriction code, do you know something about this? is there anyway to free my cellphone ?? thank you very much.

All new Nokia's are SIM Lock type 3 or SL3 as it's generally known.

There are no calculators! The algorithm is network specific and therefore impossible calculate!

If you have entered the wrong code in excess of the code entry limit which I think is five wrong codes, then even the correct code will not unlock the phone!

If you have only entered one or may be two wrong codes, then buying the code from a reputable online service is your best route. There are dealers offering codes on E-Bay, just check the feedback rating before you buy!!

There are also SIM adaptors that allow any SIM to work in almost any handset. It's a thin circuit board that sits between the phone and the SIM. I used to stock these for foreign visitors and Turbo SIM was the make that I stocked but there are several different suppliers.

Just to follow up with Jim's advice...

The Iphone 4 can only be unlocked through the original network. But there are 'turbo SIM' type cards that can unlock unlock it. Not sure if we're getting any, it was mentioned but so was a lot of other stuff.

An SL3 handset can be force unlocked, but it takes a high end PC & GFX card. Then specialized software & PC setup that will then unlock the phone in anything from 3 hours to a week...constantly running.
