    android hotspot error

    I've been using my android phone as a hot-spot for Internet access, while downloading an update of Java SE my phone shutdown and rebooted into what looked like a terminal running a script with the commands;

    bootmode flde8462
    bootmode Fle2d3c
    mdl_factory_download_mode
    install get_descriptor 128 6 774 1033 255
    install usb_cdc_req_set_control_line_state.

    error.

the screen then locked and shutdown after a few minutes, it wouldn't turn back on using the power button but booted up when i plugged it in to the charger, the phone seems to be working fine making calls txt's and hotspot also works, nothing seems to have changed, it's still android version 2.2 Froyo
can anyone explain what has happened, why it's happened, what these commands mean, and if my phone is okay or is there some error that will cause problems

At a guess the install routine didn't like something on the phone.

What phone is it? Why not update to gingerbread or icecream?

its an old Samsung Europa i5500, it was running android 2.1 but i upgraded it to 2.2 last month using Kies, don't think the processor and memory would be able to cope with a higher version.

Next time try using Odin instead of Kies. It's a lot more stable & less likely to cause problems after the flash.

I think you also need to update your phone

thought that Oden is a modified version of 2.2, and that your phone has to be rooted to install other firmware other than Google's Android?

Odin is the flashing tool used to repair handsets with buggered software. You don't think the networks & Samsung use Kies do you?

The only hard part is that you have to find the software yourself, where Kies gives you what samsung or the networks will let you have.

            Try looking at sammobile.com (it's also samfirmware.com)

You should be able to find what you need there. Because Odin uses standard firmware downloads it will also allow you to debrand your phone if you pick a generic firmware.

Just be sure to read a tutorial before you start.

The sneaky b'stards. They've reversed the order.

This is the last UK release dated Oct 2011... I5500XWJQ3 with CSC I5500OXXJPC. It's also available with the '3' CSC I5500H3GJP2. The chances are this is the firmware you have installed.

thanks Canker, I had mixed up Odin with CyanogenMod, I've just started researching how to Mod phones so thanks for advice and the directions.
