What dash?
If you have been given a MEP2 code to unlock the phone you just have to insert a different network SIM & turn on.
The phone will ask you if you want to unlock the phone. Then you just type the code in.
If you are trying to get your MEP code so you can generate an unlock code, there are easier ways.
There's a MEP reader somewhere in the PDA/Mobile section attached to a closed Blackberry unlocking thread. You can still download the program.
Or you can post your IMEI & PRD code & I'll give you the MEP2 code.Canker

The MEP reader only reads a protection code from the phone. That MEP code is used along with the IMEI to generate the unlock codes.
The MEP code you have is not the unlock code.
Post your IMEI & either the MEP code you have or the PRD from the sticker under the battery. I'll get you the unlock codes.Canker

Hello Everyone,
I have a similar problem. I have a BB 9630 which was formerly used with Verizon and would like to unlock the phone to use an AT&T sim. I found out the mep code which is in the format of xxxxx-xxx. The code doesn't work and I think it may be because of the dash in the code which I can't figure out how to type. I've tried all 8 digits and also tried only the first 5 digits with no success. Any ideas guys? Thanks.Comment

The MEP code and IMEI are used in conjunction with each other to generate the unlock code. The unlock code will be either 8 or 16 digits long! The MEP is NOT the unlock code!!Comment
