    htc desire s

i've got a htc desire s thats been water damaged, left in in my fishing jacket while out fishing. i have taken out the battery as soon as i discovered it was wet and dried it out as best i could with hairdryer and left it in a bowl of rice to dry out. started up the phone and it did say no sim inserted which cleared up and i taught i'd sorted it but now it drops signal intermittantly. everything else works perfect. just wondering if anyone in the know can tell me if its permently goosed, cheers.

If you don't get it correctly treated for the water damage you will end up with a door stop.

Where do people keep getting the idea that putting a phone in rice will solve water issues???

I can guarentee if you open it up there will still be water in there.

The problem you might now have is that rust may be attacking the ribbon connectors. So stripping it down for water treatment may damage the phone beyond repair.
Rust really likes DC voltage with low ampage.

You can try this yourself or take it to a shop. But the board needs scrubbing with IPA. All componants, chips, connectors & case parts. Then drying with a hot air gun/hair dryer.
The only parts not treated are the display & the battery. Speakers & mic's don't always like it either.

There are disassembly videos on youtube. IPA is available on ebay. You will also need a toothbrush & possibly a needle & syringe.
