can you put the freesat on to my existing satellite dish and work ok so i dont have to put new one up.

Freesat via SKY dish
To be able to watch both SKY and Freesat (for example in different parts of the house), you will have to change your LNB from the single one normally in your dish to at least a double (dual) one. I personally think the quad LNB is best, as it is not too expensive compared to the double, and you will have more flexibility later on.
Of course, you will then have to run a separate cable for the Freesat, but that should not be too difficult, depending on your current set-up.
