flashing blade 500s

Hi my blade 500s crashed today so Im trying to reflash with null cable but cant get an image to show when going to flash it.

the file is wrong its not .img but nfi any help please
Also when I download an image it comes as disc image

use any SD dreambox image for this

as for what windows says it is , that depends on what your default settings are for files, as the default tool for the file suffix, so dont pay too much attention to what windows tells you as that can change every time you install a new program

I dont see how you can come to conclusions like that having only tried one image

cause and effect are not the same thing

had you tried 10 images, and you were flashing it correctly, you may be able to say its a dead box (a brick)

using one image to determine that conclusion seems flawed logic to me, as the image could be corrupt or possibly other factors could come into play, which is even worse if you had an E2 box where it has second stage loaders involved to sort out genuine boxes from clones

I suggest you check the dreambox 500 section here on DK and look to see why your flash failed, or try alternatives, before jumping to hasty conclusions

standard flashing of a dm500 uses dreamup and null modem cable + ethernet cable

and if you cannot access the usb, how would you be able to flash it ?
