max cable run for sky tv

hello, just been doing an install for a punter, his dish is 60m away from is sat box.I am using a horizon meter and getting 98% signal on vertical and 95% on horizontal at the dish, and just gettin a 5 % loss at the sat box end.My problem is I am loosing some channels (true movies, tiny pop, vintage tv,).I know it is a long run,but the meter is giving me acceptable readings.I have also tried lnb amp at the dish, still channels missing.
Has anyone had the same problem? Ihave tried 2 different sky boxes, but no cure. Do you think lnb could be at fault??

    cheers Musky

The channels U mentioned have all changed frequency in the past few months. Have U got latest channel list?

Its not the LNB as you can see your getting a good return possibly on the 1N transponders for that type of signal, I assume its a standard Zone1 dish 43cm.

The problem is the channels you mention are on the weakest bird which is due for change Eutelsat 28A all transponders on this bird are weak as its nearing its end of life stage, On a normal 15-25m cable run you would expect SNR on a Zone1 dish to be around 60-65% you just doubled that run so you have 3 choices either increase the size of dish to say a Zone2 or even an 80cm so you can pull in that extra DB or keep the zone 1 and use some low loss WF125 or WF165 if you can afford it to maybe squeeze that bit extra out of it.

The 3rd and last choice is tell the punter he wont be getting his usual fix of re-runs on CBS action until the replacement bird Eutelsat 28B which is in position gets Lit up, But no one knows yet what this will carry and if at all any KU transponders go on there as this bird is the failed replacement at 16? east which now resides at 28.2?.

      Good Luck

he is using sly boxes m8

agree with digicon here, its basically too long a run at the moment for a failing satellite, but a bigger dish would help
