Openbox X3 or Skybox F3

I was recently going to purchase a couple skybox F3 untill i seen the new openbox X3 now im stumped on which one to go for. Has anyone here had a play with them box if so which felt the best when in menu and which seemed more all round solid box? Cheers guys

I have an F3. I think it an excellent box as a Client box. It cannot be used as a server as yet (although I'm sure this will come) but the box is simple to set up as a client (lines added with remote), it's fast and the PQ is very good, full 1080p via HDMI whereas many of the openboxes have lacked HDMI and had DVI output instead (which does not carry sound).

Only small drawback for me is the only USB socket is front mounted under the flap so if using an HDD/memory stick for PVR funtionality, or using wireless, the flap must be open.

There is now a smaller (and aparrently improved) F3 called the M3 which has a rear mounted USB and claims to have a better tuner.

the m3 is basically wireless version of skybox/openbox s12 which is the old model.

Personally i think skybox f3 is the best from the lot. i use mine with a wifi dongle, its great. fast and like the new interface, looks more up to date.

just got the F3 box software ver 08_05_2012_0781, whats the latest firmware and how would I add a line? have tried have tried update by network but can't connect and fails to download.

lots of firmware updates around, you put it on the root of a usb drive then update your files in the tools section of the F3 - for the hidden network settings press 6666 on remote.
Wifi still not working for me as buggy software on WEP - won't let you put a key lenght in due to error message. Il be looking for a 2nd box with a bridge me thinks

mate nothings wrong with your dongle. the problem is with your router. you must change your password to one encryption method eg wpa2 only

wont work if you have wep/wpa or wep/wp2. it can only be wpa or wep or wpa2.

I agree with Kaiser1...log into your router from your web browser and change the security method to WPA or WPA2..either of them not WPA/WPA2 together

just orderd a openbox x3, exact same specs i think as the skybox f3, just hope its better than my s11. will report back when it arrives, and once iv found someupdated firmware

I don't think there is a way of finding out, lots of downloads out there for firmware - I have a few firmwares but can't get the wifi to work for me
