Most likely these errors are caused by using a USB to Serial converter. Try using a PCI to Serial card in a desktop PC instead. Should be no further issue using dreamup.Leave a comment:

Similar problem maybe.
As a newbi I had a similar issue, what I did I checked the communication between my pc and dreambox, and then I deleted my dreamup and installed again and it worked for me. I did the flash erease yes and then reload the image with flash erease not. That is all.Leave a comment:

Anyone having a 'Lock-bit error' on a DM500S, try this:
(worked for me);
In Dreamup, after your box has been connected, powered up & acknowledged, click FLASH (not flash erase).
Select your image file.
A pop-up window will ask if you 'wish to carry out a flash-erase also' - Click 'NO'.
Your box will (should) now flash the image - you will notice it will automatically carry out a 'flash-erase' in the process anyway, then boot up the image you just flashed.
Hope that helps ;-)Leave a comment:

After running this exe program, it tries to connect to the internet - only my firewall stopped it?
If its a proper patch (with nothing hidden), it should have no reason to connect to the internet - sameway dreamup works without needing an internet connection?
I might be a newbie here, but I'm sure as hell not 'wet behind the ears' and have to ask the question WHY it wants to connect?!
Such programs make me damn suspicious.Leave a comment:

SRR0=8x SRR1=8x
Die ... :-(
After flash with DreamUp

If you see a DreamUp message like "found no valid JFFS2 in image" then it means you're flashing an image like Commando 14.6 that has had the /var_init folder in the root SquashFS partition surgically removed to save space in /var
Don't press the <Flash erase> button, just press <Flash>
Cheers- AL
