i iam having difficulty transferring key files to d500 its as if pc is not connected yet dreamup sees the box fine any ideas ?

Patience is a virtue. -
you need to hard wire your 500 to your PC, or through a network.
If a network, make sure your IP is near to the one of your router
example Router 192.168.1.1 , change box IP to 192.168.1.10 or similar.
you will need to username and password for your 500
probably username = root
password = dreambox.
you could use FlashFXP or CoreFTP to send files between PC and 500
