DM800 NO HD CHANNELS

Hi Guys,

Thought i would pick your expert brains.

A friend of mine (seriously! a friend) is not getting any HD channels on his Dm800

he is getting the following error on the LCD screen

***sim 201 team # 76c***

is this a hardware or software issue? he has gotten a capacitor changed as he was told this was the problem but has not fixed a thing.
he was getting SD channels and now he gets nothing.

all advice and help will be most appreciated.

Suprised that he is not geting any channels at all.
let him first take out the sim card and replace it in its housing slot.

Your friend has aclone with a sim 2.01 card.
The bootloader is old 76c.
Try updating the box with a more recent clone image for his sim type.
Also check that the tuner is siting securely in the slot.

im going to get hold of his box tomorrow and ill have a look at the sim card card to make sure its seated correctly.
whilst im at it i will flash with a newer image than it has already.

76c then it prob got an old rev j or k tuner which were the early ones and awful for HD, the cap upgrade improved things but to sort the issue properly you need a new rev m tuner,
And also be wise to upgrade the old 76 blackhole to a latest sim2 84b image

heres a little update for you all.

iv had his box running next to my dm800. both say the same thing on boot up ***sim 201 team # 76c***
no issue as when my box boots up it always says this.

one thing my mate forgot to inform me of is that the box does not boot. its stuck in a nasty circle.
the box says it is booting, watch the screen and the display shows booting, then the device reboots. and this is constant.

i have had the box on dreamup and flashed with exactly the same image as i have on my 800. yet this box still stuck in this cycle.

im baffled, my hunch is towards a power issue maybe?

all help as always is greatly appreciated

1st place I would look is power supply unit, try your psu on his box, if that sorts it then you know were you stand, if it doesn't a re-flash (with a newer image) may solve it,

yeah iv used my PSU and same issue.

with regards to the image, we have identical boxes using identical images. mine works his doesnt.

im using a prz-italy image, black hole phoenix edition. if that helps

Also if you have a HDD or a USB stick connected remove them and give it another go, might be something on there
causing the problem.

just because your unit works and his doesn't on the same image doesn't mean its not an image issue mate, his may have become corrupted, a reflash is a must now, if you use a later image you will have better performance , pic quality and probably faster boot times, do your mates box, then see the difference and im sure you will end up doing yours too, JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE A SIM2 IMAGE (84B + dm800 in the image title will mean its the latest and compatable with your units)

Cheers fella, ill have a butchers in the download section. see if i can find any new images. personally i dont like openpli images.

also whilst im here, do you or anyone know the best place to buy the new rev m tuner??

im struggling to find the rev m tuner upgrade.
