    FTP into TM5402

    Hi guys,

just idly wondering if it is possible to ftp into the TM 5402?

I've got my ip address set up fine and it can connect to you-tube etc, but I was hoping I might be able to upload softcams from my laptop whilst sitting on the couch - I'm very loathe to have to get up walk to the receiver, unplug the hardisk, go back to my couch, get comfortable again, plug in the harddisk, copy my file, unplug, get up, go back to the tv, plug it in, go back to the couch, grab the remote and install the softcam - it's very tiring ...

On similar thoughts, I don't know who writes the patches to allow softcams - very clever people, but I was thinking that perhaps the software could check a website and automatically download the softcam and even install it.

Is there a site where the programmers hang out?

And thanks to all you guys who provide such fantastic help and advice - I for one am very grateful

What you are talking about are linux boxes
These things are not possible on non linux boxes yet
as far as i know they are working on something that you could
connect to your computer with not to much hassle.
If you want to give them feedback try here Download center

Sorry mate you cant do this on the 5402 as it is a closed source box, as you said the only way is to put a usb stick in the back and upload that way.

The only way of connecting a pc up to this is via null modem cable so that it lets you auto update the softcam keys through the techmaker key updater.
