Hi, whats the difference between a patch and softcam do they do the same thing

a patch is the firmware you put on the box this give it the software to open the channels ie sexview ect all you have to do is then go on to the channel and it will update the code for you,for the channel that do not have the au option you will need to load the softcam which has the keys in it but when the keys change you will lose the channel untill you put the next softcam in or enter the keys by the remote

Iv never tried it but i think you can see it in the menu and turn it on and off and i think if you press mute and exit the pop up should have some info.

dont know whats happen downloaded something from thommo and now cant recieve any channels ,keeps saying no or bad signal. when i download unto my usb stick it shows it has been downloaded . but when i put the stick into the reciever there is nothing on it .can anyone help ,what am i doing wrong.thanks bagman

are you loading the patch this way?
this is how you load tm 5000 series patches etc:
via a memory stick first you download the correct software,patch etc:
then open the zipped folder and take the file out
[you must make sure the file is out of the folder]
before you transfer the file to the memory stick, for loading on the receiver.
next to load the patch onto the receiver you put the receiver on a free to air chn then put memory stick in tm5000, USB port. and turn the receiver on next you press the green button on tm 5000 remote,next it goes to data transfer> click>ok you will now see a small file panel with the patch,highlighted then you press>ok again, and it will now download, you will see green loading bar when complete the receiver will re-boot turn off and on again,then press exit. and remove the memory stick,change channels and the channels should open. you might have to load the latest tm softcam if the chns dont open. you load the softcam in exactly the same way

is it on a motorised dish? if yes then thor 1w has the most open with digi-tv and there are some chnd on sirius 4.8e plus a few chns on hotbird 13e if you dont have a motorised dish you need to point your dish at thor 1w to get the digi-tv chns, first you need to load the latest patch from the forum to open the channels, look in post [11] in this thread for info on how to load the patch, if you need more help post back
