tm 3000 d rs 232c help

hello i recently bought the technomate tm 3000 d and ive read that i need an rs 232c cable to patch it but my laptop hasnt got a socket 4 the rs 232c cable to go in, can i use a usb to rs 232c cable to patch my technomate or will that not work? thanks in advance

I think they do work ok if set up properly but I"v never used one as my computer is ancient but does have the rs232 port

should work aslong as you have the driver ,i believe you have to make sure its set for com1
