Hi. I had similar problem with the same receiver my problem was a faulty patch . Is the box patched? Could be a faulty patch. Try to load latest patch 153 via USB and see what happens. If not you may have to reload original firmware from TM site and then reload latest patch 153. Regards.

dont forget to do factory resets inbetween firmware or patches after you have backup your channellist this might get rid of the bug on your tm or maybe the tm is faulty and return it .

can you test it on someone elses dish just to be 100% sure it's not the lnb or cable

Hi. I find it odd yet again to come across a TM that is not very old and has problems. You could always ring TM (Tel: 0208 884 0701) they may be able to shed light on it. I am sure that its not a PSU(Power supply unit) problem as you are able to load patches etc . Its not a dish or LNB problem. Was it working before and do you know if anything may have been spilled into it like tea or coffee? It sounds like there is a connection problem inside the box ie it may be short circuiting between boards. You could always try to open the box (make sure that its powered OFF) and see if you can spot anything. If not ring TM for advice but dont spend too much money on repairs as you can buy a brand new one for around 80 pounds. Regards.

Hi. Before opening the box check to see if it may have been opened by someone else. You can tell if the seal is broken then it may well have been opened and messed about with. If the seal is not broken then it has not been opened. Regards.

Hi. Good news that the seal is not broken. Like i said before i have never come across a TM5400 that has broken after a couple of years. I have setup many TM5400's over the last few years and all are working fine. Only problem i have come across is to do with faulty patches(very rare). Are you able to go into the menus and play around?. You could try to delete most of the channels and then re-scan and do a blind search and see what happens. I suspect that you may have a faulty LNB tuner which may explain why you get fluctuating signal levels and pictures. Regards.

yes i can go into menu and do everything ,i only have a few channels from 1 sat .on the box as i deleted the rest, when i did a scan (only on one transponder) after going to factory settings the channels which were there did not have a proper name ,eg like Nova Sport, Diema etc just frequency number and tv 1 to tv13, when you say lnb tuner do you mean tuner in receiver? is it a big job to replace assuming its not too expensive

you could try and see if the lnb settings are right for your lnb play around with those setting and see if it makes a difference

Hi. I meant the tuner in the box. If you ring TM they may give details of what may be wrong. As thijs says check if LNB setting is set to Universal. Also have you tried a blind search??. Very odd you only get one transponder on HELLAS sat. This could be due to incorrect frequencies in transponder menu, the blind search should pick up missing frequencies. Regards.
