recording on external powered hard drive (WD)

Is someone also having problems with shut down external powered hard drive on thechomate receivers ?

I have always to switch to standby mode before power off the technomate .

If you do not , the file system on the hard drive is not ready for thechomate next time you power up .

I use Western Digital 1TB external powered drive .

This is a prob I had myself. I purchased a Buffalo Ministation 500Gb USB powered drive with low USB drain, and that works fine.......

I was thinking of getting a USB hard drive for my TM6900HD super, but will this record in HD? Are they just plug and play? as the instructions for the receiver are not too clear.
