    Technomate Newbie

    Hi all.

I acquired a Technomate TM-1000 CI a little while ago. I connected it to my $ky dish and was amazed at the amount of "extra" stuff that's on there, so began reading about what was available up there in the skies above. I have since decided to have a better look for myself and installed a 1.0m motorised dish.

The installer told me the unit had been patched (it also has a Dragon CAM in it), so here I am looking for help and what I can and can't do. Whether my box is good enough (up to date). Etc, etc.

It looks like I have a lot of reading and researching to do, so any pointers to what should be read first would be great.

I suppose my first questions would be:
    1) If/when I get a null modem cable and update my box, would I need to repatch it?
    2) Should I put the TM aside and get a better box or, because it was free, learn on it, before "upgrading"?
3)What satellites can I pick up from the East of England (Suffolk)?
4)Any other websites worth considering and/or browsing to learn more?

    Many thanks

    (1) depends but as a rule put the latest patch in with latest softcam dont think the dragon cam will give any more channels.
    (2) its an old box but useful for learning
    (3) at least all the main sats between 45East and 30West.(over 20)
    (4) lots but this is the best for quick and accurate answers

Thanks for the quick and concise reply, dick.

I've ordered a null modem lead, so I'll keep reading and learning over the next few days before it arrives, then get to updating.

The patch that you attached to your list.... will that update the satellite database that is built in? The reason I ask, is that it appears there has been some changes in the last few years and some of the ones that are in the receiver have the wrong names or the wrong co-ordinates. The first one I noticed was ArabSat 2C at 26.0E.

no the patch wont update the sats or channels you can rename/add sats and add Transponders in the box.if you do a factory reset make sure you save the channel list you have via the loader as this will wipe everthing out. you need a loader for the patch and softcam as well I"m sending one now(Iforgot yesterday)If you read the"noobs guide to patching your technomate" in the sticky section it will tell you how.
I"ll also see if I can sort out a channel list for your box,It goes on a 1000d ok so should suit your box.

try this channel list it should load ok on your 1000ci,I"v removed arabsat from 26E and renamed 16E I havent checked any others.the sat listings were probably correct when the box was made.(arab sat 2C is now at 169East)

if the 316 patch causes the box to crash on "orf" try this older patch.

Hi Samirami. With a TM5400 SUPER and latest patch plus a motorized dish of at least 90cm you should get tons of channels from across the universe including childrens channels. otherwise point your dish to ASTRA at 19.2 EAST for some childrens channels like CARTOON NETWORK DISNEY XD. Regards.

                          Upgrading TM1000 CI

Quick question on upgrading my TM1000CI - am i right in assuming the NULL Modem cable should have female one end and male the other? My PC only has a female connection at the rear?
