    th 5402 recording

i seem to have two issues first is that the 7 day epg is never saved when the unit is put in standby and is often lost when moving to a different favourite category

second what is the recommended or used by others as a recording medium i have tried 3.5 hard drive in caddy dose not work, verious usb pen drives will record but not play back . 3.5 hard drive in a dock works but gets very hot when left on for 24 hours

thanks in advance advice is greatly appreciated

i have used various pen drives and never any problems and used various usb powered hdd drives and never any problems you do have to make sure thatthey are formatted to fat 32 or format them in the disk manager menu i only had problems with the internal 1tb esata drive in my tm7100 cause it was looking for to much powere and making the tm useless for recording but with all my tm's i never had any problems with usb powered drives formatted to fat32

You cannot do anything about the EPG as it is stored in the machines memory a soon as you switch off its wiped meaning every time you switch back on you have to go to the epg channel and reload it.

it not when power is turned off i except i will be lost then it its when it has been in stand by ( even now and next is lost) or if i move favourites say "sport" to "movies" ?

thank you to the above posters i have been using a Seagate 320gb usb powered all weekend and seems ok

It dose seem that i needed to let the tm format the drive (previously formatted to fat32 with PC)

              thank you all again ..
