Softcams and Patches on TM5402

Just wanna know the best ways or the basic things to do before downloading new patches or softcams to receiver.Do i have to factory reset or just plug in the usb to the receiver and download?..do i have to tune to a specific channel or sat?

best way to upgarde patches is
1)back up channel list
2)factory reset
3)load original technomate firmware
4)factory reset
5)load latest patch (after this you could load latest addon but if you did before it will still be there)
6)factory reset
7)put back channellist and rescan all channels in use
softcams you can load any time

Thanks so much for the assistance,is the original firmware the one found in technomate site? it's version 111 from 09- May- 2011,is it the latest one? Why do i have to re scan channels?? i was thinking i would just put back my channels list and am good to go..what about the softcam?

Hi, latest is 117p but in the next day or 2 there will be a new release mate.

You dont have to rescan, just save your chans to usb then import them back in. might need to re enter lat long too.

Thanks,i was thinking that firmwares and patches are two different things,is 117p a firmware?...i have my dish motor on diseqc 1.2,i hope i won't have problems with the settings i already have?

advise by phanth0m is rescan channels after you put back channel list this is to make sure all channels have the the latest pid/sids and ect you do this after you put back your channellist from usb you can put back on softcam at any time
if you want to leave rescanning you can this is up to yourself
but if you have problems with some channels after a patch upgrade rescanning the channels in use is usualy the solution

Hi. Can anyone tell me what the add on after the phant0m install actually enables. I have tried loading it but is seems to fail each time. Everything else seems to work ok. 8281, etc.

8281 is what it enables without the addon loaded onto your tm the servermenu will not work
