Will a legal Sky card work

    Hi all.
Could someone tell me , Will a paid for legal Sky (28E) work ok on the 5402+. If so will the unit pass the stay alive signal to the card. My 5402 does have the latest patches etc. Do I have to enter the sky hd unit I own ID number in the 5402 for it to pair.
    Many thanks in advance

it will work when you put in the 5402 with the hex dex boxkey entert in the nds cardmenu but as far as i know it will not update and you will still need your sky box to update the card every 4-6 weeks

          copied this from digidude
you need the 10 digit serial number from the box that the card is originally paired to, this can be found in the receivers services system info menu

you then take these 10 digits, and put them into a scientific calculator, and then press the hex button, if the result of this is LESS than 8 digits, add zeros to the START of the numbers to make it up to 8, this makes your boxkey that the receiver needs to know to be able to clear premium channels

whatever you do, DO NOT make public your receivers serial number or your boxkey, as these CAN be used to identify your account by sly/ND$

also, avoid the online boxkey generators, as ive never trusted these, and a LOT of people who have used them have had their cards / accounts disabled
when in the smartcard menu press ok on the nds then when in the cards menu press the yellow button this where you enter the boxkey nr.

With the TM5402 you don't use any HEX conversions or boxkey numbers.

I used a Viasat card in it, & i simply needed the actual serial number of the box it was paired to & it was the 1st 10 digits, not the last 10 by the way, so as it is NDS like Sky UK, i guess it's the same format, no converters needed.

You only need the boxkey code when using linux boxes really.

i was always under the impression if you had a premium channels card of nds you would need the hex conversion for it to work never tried it yet but will in the future

Hi. I have tried entering the serial number in decimal format (boxkey was 10 digits in lenght) this gave me a message invaled card key. Then I attempted to enter its Hex converted number but could not find a way of entering the letters A to F. I noticed the default boxkey was FF FF FF FF FF so this indicates it requiers a Hex number. Anyone got any ideas.
                    Regards bouncerdove

Hi again. All up and running. The ten digit boxkey is entered as a decimal number not Hex. Then disconnect from the mains, reconnect and hey pressto it works.
I have also been informed that the stay alive signal is transfered to the card so will keep you informed on this.
                      Many thanks for your help.

I am going to retry this with a viasat card (nds) as it worked before but the official viasat box has got a fault & it's just stuck on the standby button, so putting card in a TM5402 may just keep the card alive.
