Can someone help? I have installed a 80cm motorised dish but cannot get the dish angle correct. According to instructions my dish angle should be 22.4, but scale starts @ 30 and I can't make out the numbers on other side. anyone know what I should be seeing?

if i remember rightly, on the tm2600, one side of scale is declination the other elevation, theres a page in the book,
i'm inlondon so MOTOR is 51, ON MOTOR SCALE, and dish bracket scale shows 39, WHICH INTERPRETS AT ABOUT 22 ON THE SIDE YOU CAN'T SEE, what dish is it? i know the tm's are like that...hope that makes sense mate1 metre dish,tm 5400ci super,tm 1500ci super,dreambox500s(currently a harsh learning curve).. -
Hi. First of all the figures are ONLY a guideline as they can vary depending on type of setup used. The figures on a TM2600 will always add up to 90 degress ie YOUR SITE LATITUDE + ELEVATION = 90. For London motor is set to 51 for latitude and 39 for elevation. These figures are fixed and cannot be altered . Although i live in London and on a TM2600 have used 52/38, 53/37 and satellites are still found. This is why figures are never gospel. Again with dish angles figures can vary. I can say from experience that you should always find the angles at local level. Dish angles are the way that your dish tilts or sits on the motor. Best thing to do is find the correct elevation(height) for the west satellites. Then its a question of adjusting the dish angles for the east satellites. It has worked for me many times and thats why it takes me about 20 minutes to get it right because i know where any satellite can be found and then adjust elevation/angles accordingly. My advice to anyone is that make sure your receiver is set up correctly before you install a motor etc. Make sure correct USALS figures are put in and you have up to date channel lists, TP's or whatever for the satellites you wish to find. I said it many times... its not difficult to set up a motor it takes time and patience.if i remember rightly, on the tm2600, one side of scale is declination the other elevation, theres a page in the book,

I take it you have already put your correct latitude on the motor and locked it up.no need to move this again.
Dish elevation scales are not usually very accurate and in any case you cant just set it at a theoretical angle and get your signal, you will have to hunt for it.put your lat/long in the "usals"menu of your box then send the box to a sat of your choice with an active Transponder set then outside you will have to hunt for a signal by moving the whole motor/dish assembly L/R slowly past where you believe is the direction the sat is in,as your dish markings cannot be read properly start off with the dish say just over the upright position then after each sweep lower it by 1 degree at atime til signal found.you can use 28.2E as your target sat and start by pointing in the same direction as the local sky dishes.Comment

i've found lately, the best way for me is to drive the motor to 28.2 east, then physically move it by hand to get any kind of lock, once i find that drive to 0.8 west and then fine tune, finding the local sky sat can be easier at times especially if theres no landmark , i'e chimney or house to aim at on 1 west..1 metre dish,tm 5400ci super,tm 1500ci super,dreambox500s(currently a harsh learning curve)..Comment
