    technomate 5400 rebooting

Hi , I've got a sat. technomate 5400 usb which was working perfectly until i went away and the box wasn't use for a month. When i switched it back on the box was rebooting repeatdly. Ive tried to pull the dish LMB connection then it stop rebooting. as soon i connect the cable it reboot again. I can get to menu and change setting only if i pull the LMB cable. Anyone knows what can cause this problem.
    Thanks

Hi. It sounds to me like you may have problem with the cable or LNB. Try to disconnect the cable from LNB end and see if you have same problem. If you have same problem then its not the LNB and problem could be cable or software related. Have you loaded a patch recently or is it the same one as before problem arose???
    Regards,

Hi , Thank you for your reply. No i have not updated any software patches recently. I've save the channels and did a factory re-set and the problem is still there. I'll try and find the any update patches available.

post your question in the satellite forum, as youve posted on the ipad threads. you will get more help and better feedback there.

Hi , I have checked and its not the LMB. Checked my satelite at friend house with the same system and it does the same and reboot as soon as I plug the LMB connection. If the problem is software , would you know what patch to download that may cure the problem ?

Hi. I have a TM5400 SUPER and latest PHANTOMPATCH is 159 available form the DOWNLOAD CENTRE on this forum. Check for your model. What patch do you currently have?? Check in INSTALLATION menu for LNB settings ie it should say UNIVERSAL. You can always re-try and put original patch from TM website back and see if it works. Or you can ask TM for advise - TEL 0208 8840701(dont tell them you have third party software loaded. i did it once and they were not happy). Or if you are anywhere around London ,if you like, i may have a look for your free of charge apart from a cup of coffee!!..

Hi , Thank you very much for the kind offer. Unfortunately I am in Manchester, I've called TM number you gave me and he said it could be the power supply. No sure if power supply can causes reboot to the box when I connect the LNB cable.

Hi. Yeah its a long way to Manchester.. In my experience the TM5400 boxes are very reliable . I have installed dozens and apart from patch problems i have never had a single problem with them. How old is your box?? If you have a sat meter try and connect it and see if you have same problem. I take it that you did not change anything before the problem began. You may also have a short somewhere in the box. I suspect that problem may lie in the LNB circuitry because as soon as you connect LNB cable it goes. If it was me i would also try the following:
Please consider your safety when working with electrical equipment.
                a) Switch off receiver and disconnect lnb cable.
                b) Open up the box - only do this if warranty has expired.
                c) switch on receiver and check you get normal display on front.
                d) Connect lnb cable and see if it gives any indication of where problem may lie ie does it make a clicking noise etc.
                e) Also check no liquid or loose objects are found.
                f) If its still rebooting itself then if possible get a qualified electrician to have a look .

                Good luck

Hi , I have taken the box to the shop and been advised the motherboard has been damage and its not worth fixing. Very disappointing but look like I'll have to get a new one.
Many thanks for your advise and help
