The 5402 has the most support and is probably Technomates most popular selling receiver, The 5302 is cheaper and the 5502 dearer again due to the fact it allows for a 2.5" internal hard drive to be fitted if required.
Just be wary that the 5302 and 5502 use a different file system for channel lists and if you search theses are few and far between, the 5402 uses the NDF file system which is also used on the Blade, DrHd and clark tech receivers so any channel list made for these receivers is interchangeable with one another.
And finally there is a channel editor for the 5302 and 5502 models as well as a firmware upgrade that will allow you to download channel lists from the online channel list server, The 5402 also has the same functionality
Good Question are you competent in FTP,Telnet, Linux commands if so then yes a Linux receiver is a better buy as it has far more customisable options available to it rather than a closed source receiver
I agree with digcon. E2 box is best bet if you are prepared to get your head round it. I have both tm5402 and vu solo. For ease of use and as a very good sat receiver tm is excellent. Remote control is responsive and all navigation is very quick, however if I was to go back to the beginning I would buy a Linux receiver, it is a very steep learning curve and you may pull all your hair out but once you have box tamed you will find it is so much more than just a Sat receiver. You will never be bored owning a Linux box cause if there is nothing worth watching you have endless customization options to keep you busy. Oh one word of warning well three really backup, backup, backup. You will need it more than once
