Advice on TM 6800 HD Super

Hi to all, just joined the group and this is my first posting.
Currently have a TM 5400 USB (non-super) that I regularly update with new patches / tmsoftcam. Looking to upgrade the receiver and the strongest contender right now is the TM 6800 HD Super. This is not a cheap box and before I part with my hard earned cash I would very much appreciate any advice, comment, remarks on this receiver.

    welcome to dk commnet

i know a few people that have the 6000 series and they seem very happy with the box, and of course technomate has great support.

however i personally would go for a linux based receiver such as dreambox 800 or ipbox due to the fact that since they are linux they are much more flexible

Right, firstly things seem to be going off patch far too quickly...hence the reason i would advise you to look at a linux receiver as these receivers are always supported and have the ability to cardshare..however they tm6800super is great receiver, great support and can cardshare via lan..

Read the Rules here; they apply to Everyone.

I have a TM6800HD Super, picture quality is good, easy to update, good tuner. I have not yet plugged in ethernet cable a router is too far away, so can't advise on that.

I like it and find it to be a good box.

I notice that the 6800 super has eSata, but the information on the TM website only mentions PVR via USB. So what can the external SATA be used for exactly?
