    TM-5402HD EPG question

    I was thinking of buying a TM-5402HD CI+ Super + M2 (phew! I think that's the full title).

I have been trying to find out more about how to access the 7 day EPG. After Googling around, I'm a bit confused about how it works.

Am I right in thinking that every time the box is put into standby, it loses all the EPG info & the EPG has to be repopulated again when switched on?

Also, do you lose the programme synopsis info when using the 7 day EPG, or is it possible to have both?

    Hi Hadron,

I would have thought seeing as your quite Savvy with the Open/Skybox that your next receiver would be an Enigma2 one which is generally considered the next step up, as for the 5402 i think its a great box it has a fantastic sensitive tuner and yes the epg is there but if you switch off you have to reload it back. Very similar to how a Linux Enigma2 does the same apart from you staore the main .dat file on a hard drive or USB stick again one you go to standby the EPG is wiped from the ram which is where it is temporarily stored while the box is switched on.

But with a Linux box as soon as you switch back on from standby the epg gets reloaded back into the ram from the stored epg.dat file

    Regards

      Thanks for the reply digicon.

The reason I was thinking of the 5402, was that, although I am satisfied with my Sky/Openboxes, I am after a box with 7 day EPG, and came across a seller on Ebay selling the 5402 for ?80 + ?7 p&p. They are used but working. Sounded like a pretty good price.

Thanks for the info on the EPG. Not too much of a hardship I suppose, as long as it repopulates fairly quickly. Do you know whether the programme synopsis is still available with the 7 day EPG? I have read posts where it has been mentioned that it is not, but things may have changed since those posts were made.
