hi all im new to satellite tv.can some1 tell me if i buy a technomate do i just update the patches on it and hook it up to my dish or do i need a card to make it work?ne help would be appreciated.thanks

the first thing you do is put the emu patch on the box,,this emulates an encryption,,then you put the latest softcam on the box,,these are the keys to open an encryption,,
only digi tv on 1west open using this method,and all s/ware here if you look in the stickies..

yes mate sky only show a fraction of games.. i can watch any of the 350 live premier league games per season.. including 3pm kick offs which you dont get on sky.. you need a linux based receiver though to open the vast majority of channels as they have moved over to better encryption.. if you just want to use patches, keys and emu you will clear very little of worth.... you also need another dish or move the one you have now from 28E to 13E or 19E.. better still get a monoblock or motorised system..

for me i would always go for a motorised dish then you can
get signals and chns from lots of satellites and you dont limit yourself to three or four sats, at the moment there is'nt very much open without a subscription or sharing that cant be discussed on this forum i think i would hang fire for the time being to see just how things go and to see if anything opens and on what receiver or card or cam first. then you can decide which way to go plus it gives you time to ask and get views from the members on receivers.cams,cards linux boxes and dish sizes etc:
and then when you buy you will get the best system and save money

i would say get a linux receiver but im not sure about if there is any lag during EPL!?

the tm 3400ci+ is not a linux box mate
and to watch football it's on digi-tv on thor1w satellite
you need the receiver patching and the latest softcam loaded and you dish pointing at thor 1w and the digi-tv chns will open there is about 12 sport chns, nova sport has premier league games there is also film discovery hbo hallmark animal planet and private spice if you want to view the filth plus about 150 chns open with the patch
