    Technomate TM F3/5

    Hi,

I have a cloud ibox 2+ which is pretty decent and I'd say I know 'enough' about sat boxes...

Someone I know is being offered a technomate TM F3/5 and is being told they will get 'all' channels and there is no need for a dish outside the house - all that is needed is a broadband connection.

The guy says he gets all foreign channels and installs in pubs etc - what I dont understand, is how does this work if it doesn't go through a satellite - i dont really believe what he is saying is true so wondered if someone with a bit more experience can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the help in advance

The TM F3/5 is not only a Satellite receiver but it also has IPTV as well this what i would assume the Guy is on about, Be wary its not as good as something like the dedicated IPTV mag250 box

Thanks for reply. So does this mean it will get everything he says? The guy is charging over ?200 for the "service" which I thought was expensive as the boxes are going for under ?100 on eBay. Does something need to be configured or do you just plug them in and they work instantly?? Take it you don't get high definition and it is dependent on internet connection I.e stuttering etc.

      Are the channels reliable?

As you know we cant talk about any So called 'service' or cost but the IPTV feature is just load a file onto a USB stick with the relevant channel info in and then upload to the receiver takes less than 10 seconds to do.

Now as we can only discuss the Free aspect i have had some channel in HD and the odd one like Bein sport etc.. but these are Free ones and generally only last a few days.

To stream HD you need a Fibre Broadband connection anyone that tells you they have it on something like 4mb No chance it just wont work there is too much bandwidth requirement for it.

The streams Free ones on the IPTV are freely available on the Net if you search but as i said they only last a few days and are not reliable unless you are getting them by illegal means.

And just to backup the HD on IPTV just go to the BT website and have a look at there IPTV HD offering of BT sport, Eurosport HD etc... they will only supply this service with a Fibre Connection which means there lowest package which is upto 38mb

and to close the latest patch for the TM f3/5 now holds up to 600 IPTV channels, as i said the Mag250 is far superior as its a dedicated box.

Thanks digicon, I didn't even know there where IPTV boxes or what they could do. In your opinion is it worth paying this guy double what I can get the box for?

Problem is that it isn't for me and the people that are thinking about it have no idea how anything works so are just taking his word for it so I wanted to look in to it for them.

I don't really want to be "support" for them so just trying to find out whether it's worth what he is saying

I cant really go any further buddy on the subject as it breaches forum Rules but i would imagine this so called dealer has an Illegal IPTV service and installed the channels to the receiver then again he could have installed the free ones and then disappear i have no idea.

I have seen the so called Mag250's up and running with a so called HD package and its garbage it lags and the Quality is SD at best but some people dont mind myself personally could not put up with it after being used to watching the Matches in HD even from Feeds.

If you can ask for a Demo of the box with the channels installed and if he leaves it with you which i doubt you could download the list to a USB stick LOL
