    technomate tm twin

I've looked and searched bit can't find. I'm after upgrading from a skybox and I originally thought a vu+ duo but then came across the technomate tm twin. Do these receivers do blind scan? I prefer the technomate as it has an rf out and was wanted to basically replace a sky digibox with similar working ethics. Once I have made up my mind what's best I can stick the digibox in the loft and the skybox in the kids room. All help appreciated

The TM-Twin is basically a VU Duo as it uses the same Chipset/Processor combo, Not sure about the Blindscan as the Tuners are are driven by the dual core 400mhz processor so any Blindscan feature if available would be software based and not Hardware based like a receiver that has Plug & Play Tuners etc...

Its an E2 Linux receiver you wont need a channel list ever again so to speak you just install Autobouquets from the plugins and this will update your channels for you

How does the standard definition bear up on these boxes, vu+ included? What would you recommend as these boxes are pretty much the same prices and is the installation of internal hdd easy enough to set up etc. Sorry about all the questions but need to know before i splash the cash.

i have the tm twin and find it first class. but it is near half the price of
a vu duo2. setting a hard drive up is strait forward, but it's very difficult to
compare these models with each other, the tm gives a great picture and audio
and for me is as good on picture /audio etc: as any other linux model iv'e owned
at this time there are not as many teams for images etc for the technomate boxes
as the vu models. it's down to you which you want to go for ierice etc: but they
always say you get what you pay for thats why i would keep away from clone models
but thats just my opinion, also tm have now got a nano super that has a chip set like the solo2
and there is talk about a new model based on the duo2 so it could be worth a check with tm
about them you might like one of them.

Im basically looking for something which will work in a similar vein to a sky digibox, anything more is a bonus. Ease of use for the rest of the family to use also. Does the twin have all the cables inside for putting a sata hdd in. Also does it have to be a certain brand of hdd?

i never use a hard drive there are far to many channels to view so i'm
not much help on them but if i remember correctly tm will fit a hard drive
for you, as i said go on there shop website or phone and ask them they are very helpful

I've got the tm-twin and I have had for over two years, I think it's a great box and love it to bits. One thing though is it's not a skyhd box even though it can be made to look like it. I run them both side by side the skybox for the main tv watching in the house for it's ease of use for the family and the tm for all my iptv stuff like downloading the latest movies and tv shows direct from the net to the box. The tm has much better quality video on the hd channels and the audio levels are so much higher on the box compaired to the skybox also the skybox cannot control my motorised dish and do all the nice extra's that any enigma boxs can do.
