    Newbie - Where to start

Hi to one and all. I'm a complete newbie both to this site and satallite TV.
I would like some advice on what a good setuo would be for me. I live in Yorkshire and would like a HD PVR setup. I would like to be able to get a wide variation of channels both FTA and others. Can anyone suggest a good setup and approximate price?
My budget is very flexible for a good motorised dish setup.
Many thanks for helping an old fogey trying to catch up.

    hello mate,
I"ve got a tm6800HD original and its fine, its user friendly and pretty fool proof.BUT a lot of people are going to tell you to buy a linux based set and you will have to weigh up the pros & cons yourself about that.
at the moment you can patch technomates to receive encrypted channels on 1West and with an HD set a lot of encrypted channels in german on 23.5East.
what ever set you buy you should motorise to get the most out of it and probably use a 1 metre dish but I have found that at my location just south of the humber an 80cm one is just as good. any way I"ve sent a quick motorised set up guide to give you some idea of whats involved.

    prices tm6800hd say ?160 tm6800hd super say ?250 dish say ?50 motor say ?50 wallmount say ?25
meter/cable and bits and bobs say ?50. these are only rough ball park figures.

the TMs I mention are pvr ready only and will need an external hard drive or usb stick.
I just record to a stick you can get a 2 hour film on a 4gig stick with plenty to spare.
