technomate 5400 ci+ usb help plz?

hi to all.
ive just got a technomate 5400 ci+ usb and im a newbie to all this.
i was told it has already been patched but how do i tell if it is or not?
do i need a card?
i was also told it is just plug n play?
need as much help with this as poss.

You need the latest softcam

To see if receiver is patched-Menu-system info- if you see CAS/Biss then it is patched. If not try entering 2004 while on system info- If it is patched but turned off this will turn it back on. If Cas/Biss still not showing then receiver is not patched.

have a good read of the red sticky section on patching your technomate and the technomate softcam thread.

softcam = software based conditional access module (cam).
Softcam (emulators) emulate,through software,various standard hardware Cams for Seca, Viaccess, Nagra & Irdeto etc encryption systems


Basically a softcam contains keys that will open some encryptions, only works in conjunction with a receiver that has been patched ready to accept these keys.

sorry i dont think he needs a loader as the 5400 has a usb so all u need to do is downlooad the right patch which u can find attached then extract and put on usb and install from the reciever. then u do the exact same for the softcam find both attached
