    What is Technomate

Could someone please take the time and give me an idiots guide as to what technomate is? Also could you tell me the benefits of having it? Thing is n3 apparently kicks in shortly after easter, therefore my wee starview will soon be toast.

Technomate is the brand name of satellite recievers. They, like all others make a wide range of recievers. If you look at the sponsers on this site using the FORUM JUMP button they are the last two sites on Digital Kaos, they may have some info. I use a Technomate 1500 ci+, and though it is an old model it is performing excellently. There is more information in the Sticky threads at the top of this page/forum. There are far superior models than mine so I can`t really advise you other than to say that some of the very friendly people on DK may pop up to give you more advice on their particular Technomate model. The benefits of the Technomate is that it has it`s own forum here, the boxes can be upgraded here instead of turning dishes to get over-the -air updates and the fact that the people here will keep you up to date .

anyone now thinking of a technomate receiver
i would only go for one of there linux models to get support
from now on all patches and support has stopped for the [non
linux models]. and unless someone else makes the patches for
the standard emu models you will need a card or a cam to get
the channels open. this is what has been posted elsewhere on
the future of the tm patches etc:
            ******************************************
Personal message from Magic - Technomate Users please read
            ************************************
Darkman has given me the opportunity to join the Spider Team. This will give me the chance to work with new generation receivers. Unfortunately the Technomate receivers are no longer able to keep up with the new technology available on more advanced chipsets. For this reason, I will no longer be able to provide any new patches for technomate receivers. Thanks to all you Technomate users for all your support in the past, it has been a pleasure, but it is now time to move on.
Please understand that it is Technomate who are ultimately responsible for the support of their receivers. Technomate has made quite a sum of money from their receivers, but it has been left solely to me to carry this burden of support for some time. I can no longer support such a wide range of their receivers without sufficient help. I have therefore decided to join a dedicated and talented team of patchmakers for the spiderbox receivers where I will not be expected to do everything myself. Thank you for your understanding.

Believe that when you see it. Clarke Tech are the same as Technomates and they will still have support. When CT have a patch watch TM release one. It will just come via another forum thats all. Probably Digital Worldz.

Magic does not even make the patches. The patches are given to him to release to the open forums. Big headed boaster!

                      i have the clarke-tech 5000 HDcplus model
and i hope patches keep being posted but
once digi-tv goes i just wonder what any patch
will open, for a long time iv'e used cards and cams
and had much more open than the patches have
ad as you say a few times yabbervox has also posted
tm patches as well as the clarke-tech patches
and as said most are sure the patches are only posted by magic
if you look at the date on them they are always a day or so old
when he posts them, but like most we are greatfull for the support

I started out scanning the skies for sats and channels as a hobby, the patches are/were a bonus, and when they`re gone will still scan for FTA. Good luck with the new box.
