finally got my tm500 on bb

been off line for a bit with computer probs but back again and on broadband at long last.
I"ve connected my tm500 to my router and the red button has enabled digi tv ok but in the communication setup it still shows no internet connection on the static ip line does this have any significance?

in communication setting did you tick the box dhcp?if not tick that and save and try again to connect to the net

great to here about your BB.

When using the UR20-01-10 image and the LAN button on remote, it dosen't show your external ip(static IP) for some reason. But you can get it from the setup menu no6 Retrieve Internet IP.

yeah it was ticked and it was connecting ok as it unscambled digi tv.it was just that it stated I was not connected but as "csb"says its normal with the image I"m using I"ll ignore it. thanks to both for your interest.

just out of interest, what is your opinion about the build quality and picture quality of the TM500 compared to the TM 5000 series boxes?
I was thinking about a linux box. To be honest I am really impressed with the TM5200 box......it does what it says on the tin!
i had a Protek Unix 500 box a few months ago and to be honest for the money i thought it was poor, problems controling the motor and picture quality was not as good as this TM5200.

when you pay for the unix box id say half of the price is for the access to the s*****. its just a dm500s clone but for what you get there still vgfm in my book. the 2 tm boxs that i have are as you say good quality so id be suprised if the 500/600,s are any different. why not wait a bit and take a look at the tm800hd if you want a excellent picture quality.

I"ve got no problem with either build quality or the picture on my TM500.but its not so user friendly as the std technomates and I much prefer to use my tm6800 even though its not linux,the menus on the std TMs are so easy to use and just about idiot proof.I"ve also got an old tm 1000d which still gives great service and I use that mainly for setting up motors(I"m always playing with altering things).I"ve only bought TMs and never had any problems with them at all.I only use TM motors as well and once again never had any trouble from them.

Thanks, basically you are saying that the tm500 is similar in quality to the TM5200, but operating system not so user friendly?
As long as the UR image is as reliable as the TM5200 software.......?

yeah I"ve got the ur image dated 20/01/10 (I think its the latest) and its fine,stable and no probs.I just find the menu awkward compared to the sd TMs but thats just my opinion I havent heard anyone else moan about it.

Thats because one is standard receiver and the TM500 is basically a pc linux system. Once you have been using it for a while it's easy.
