Technomate to pc connection

im thinking of getting a Technomate 5400 full kit but i have not got a serial on my laptop.
can you get an adapter serial to ethernet or is there any way i can connect wireless through my router, ie. box wired to the router and then wireless from pc to router to Technomate box?

there are serial cards which u can slot into laptops
for flashing more reliable than usb adaptors.
