have you tryed new ones mate?
if so just reboot your box, but they could just be flat?
is there a reset pin hole on the remote?
are the springs in the remote rusty? (happens if the battery's leaked)

                  found this
Technomate have finally taken responsibility for the fiasco that arose due to new remote control frequencies that are used on the TM-500/600.

For those of you who have a pre production TM-500/600 you can get a new remote control delivered free of charge by emailing Technomate with the serial number and place of purchase. This will then allow the unit to work with new software.

There is a full spread about the issue on the Technomate website

iirc the pre production only have 1 scart

                  hope it helps
