TM 7102 - new user problems...

I've just set up a new 7102 - with A1, A2 and Hotbird running down two cables each passing through a Diseqc. Great pictures and usability but have two big issues with it.

    1. I can't record two channels at the same time. As soon as one recording starts (say on Hotbird), I get a blank screen and 'No signal' on any Astra 1 channel. I can switch to Astra 2 (but think this is because if the Diseqc is unpowered, the cable defaults to port which is Astra 2). This is with Tuner setting set to Twin - if I switch it to single, I can't change channel at all unless I stop the recording.

    2. The internal HDD continually seems to disconnect itself so no disk found if I try to record. Sticking in a USB memory stick and/or restarting the box sometimes gets it to appear again but it doesn't seem reliable and I'm concerned about unattended recordings actually happening.

Also, minor issue - is there a limit on the number of Favourites in any group? I was entering the main euro channels when pressing the OK button seemed to stop marking hearts. Deleting others seems to re-enable it...

Any advice from those who have a working setup would be most appreciated.

    kind regards

hi goldnet did you get sorted yet
best to sort your channels in "all satelites" list and leave favorites as they say " movies " for movies channels and "cartoons" for cartoons ,ect
if you can leave your tm in a completely open spot so the drive will not overheat

Hi - think we've been corrresponding 'in another place'! Not sorted yet as, once I can work out what needs changing (about to put pencil to paper to draw it!), I'll have to get someone to go onto the roof to change the LNB/Diseqc connections around.

I've set up most of my favourites - I don't categorise by Movies/Cartoons but by UK, Euro, Culture, Music etc so do change the defaults around a fair bit. There were no channels in the preset favourite groups so I haven't messed anything up. What do you mean by sort channels in the All Satellites list - do you mean select All satellites before setting up Favourites? For the big favourites groups, yes, I do. For smaller groups, like Culture, where I choose half a dozen stations from each satellite, I select the satellite first as it makes the individual channels easier to pick off the listings.

I have no completely open place for the TM to go - No reason it has to go with the TV: I may be able to move it to an adjacent shelf, with my sound system but all those connection cables then have to be re-routed and probably extended... ;-[
