can't connect to eurovox to update firmware

When hooked up to the eurobox via that connection I run the down load program and get the message "the receiver was not detected". I then chose a com port 1-4 (tried all) and get "waiting for the responce of your reciever" and then still nothing.

Are you using the com port on the motherboard or an adapter?

It should always be set to com1. Reboot the PC after making any changes.

Are you sure it's a null modem cable? Have you successfully flashed anything before with it?

You can get 9-pin female cables that are not null modem cables...the pin configuration is different.

On the desktop i'm using the comport on the motherboard, and yes it is a null modem cable as i've been able to flash my FTA 101 box in the past with it without any problems, even setting things to com1 doesn't make a differance.

Is the eurovox at the correct state to receive the transfer?

It need to be at the point where there's 4 numbers on the lcd, or 4 dashes.

Sorry if this is in wrong place.
I have an old Eurovox with just 1 scart socket it came in a white box and tuner streches to about 12 slots. I cannot change chanells or imput keys manually as remote wont work. I have checked remote and it is sending signal. The question is can I upgrade this with firmware to a say blue or eurovox 2.so that I can imput keys and use another remote
