    hiya all.had a eurovox max on cable for a good few years now but moving to a new build with no cable.(could be a good thing with n3 coming out v soon).i need to buy a good sat kit preferably motorised and was wondering which kit to go for.any info would be much appreciated.also,when i`ve purchased my new kit would i need to flash it with a new image or patch ect...i`ve worked out that as i live near manchester i would need a dish about 1m.just after the footy,films and kids channels.sorry if i sound ignorant on the sat trail but i`m as new to this as you could get

    Well I have a technomate 5400, I've never missed a man united game this season. 1w is good but is supposed to be going down soon. I'm going to get a protek 9600, few people on here have said that's a good reciever for sports. I'm new myself so can't help too much mate

    I'm sure which ever reciever u get someone on here will advise you on how to (flash/patch) your reciever

    It looks like you will need to go down the linux route with a TM500/600 or the like and you can get the images to flash on this and other sites.But if you are new to satellite they can be tricky to set up from scratch with a new dish/motor.and if you can afford it start off with a std cheap FTA technomate which will make setting up the motor easier and give you an understanding of what is going on.
    if you get a TM2600 motor and the 1mt dish on a good wall mount you will be ok if you havent got a wall that give a clear view of the southern sky a scaffold pole sunk in your back garden may do the trick.I"d have a read of the sticky threads as well.and I"ve sent a quick guide of mine so you can get an idea of whats involved.
