Hi,
Just bought one of these and soon as I installed it it came up with "This unit is a Clone", does that mean I can't use it?

I had a search and can only find this - http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=uk

But can't see a real answer.

Will the unit work or not?

I have tested Edc17CP14 on audi A5 and VW Eos and with no problem but in V8.0.2.10, you need to calculate checksum.

what do you mean by "tested"?
read dump and flash the same dump that you had read?
or
read dump and flash a modified dump ?

tested clone v12 with 2 x edc17cp14.
Flashed OK, customers happy. Flashing time I think is less now than in previous version. CPU usage was 99%.

cks is calculated by mpps becose it's partial read

I use x17 sw + genuine tool for checksum after winols processing. X-17 can flash this edc17cp14 but in boot mode not by obd. edc17cp14 does not have RSA protection.

no,this is wrong
with edc17 mpps read partial read and flash partial dump,mpps don't write the same bit when flashing,but when it write a different bit mpps correct cks then write 2nd different bit then correct cks and continus like this at the end
mpps correct cks in the chip when flashing
