I renewed my installation 4 months ago and usually last one year
Ford Transit covered till 2022 for all key lost Yes, the Ford options work when all keys are lost with the exception of the Texas transponder using Transit between 2012-2016 and the Thatcham alarm type Transit 2006-2012. The HITAG using systems 2016+ can be programmed when all keys are lost this is the answer from Chris .

Remember now new software all module available for one year price look on halkyard truecode website.
I think the new rule from companys which are making soft for lockies are some kind of fighting with car thiefs. Mayby they get letters from EU about making online in key coding to see where the stolen car is or who made key for it. I know that profits from subscribcions are more stable for compannies but it starts from when they cought many thiefs using (dont remember the tool from France - ICO?) and they had all vin numbers which was stolen and info about buyers of that tools.
It all comes down to copy protection, enforcing an online calculation to use the software/decrypt data ensures the user is using a legitimate version of the tool(or lock out a stolen one in your example). Car theft with locksmith tools is still a very small area from what I know which surprises me given the popularity of keyless cars and the ease of use of some modern tooling. In the end the tool companies are all in the business for the money as we all are as well an they have to protect their investment in the software we use to make our money.
Doesn't mean I approve of it though, online checks for everything is exceedingly annoying in this industry as we often work out of signal. They all keep logs of everything you do nowadays but I don't think this is for theft prevention, maybe if they're questioned by authorities but it's not the primary purpose of the move to online everything.
from what i can gather , doing individual activations annually , after computer changes or crashes etc takes up alot of his time , going online frees up alot of time better spent on development and life .
of course its beneficial to the manufacturer as has a steady annual income , dont subscribe the software wont work , so ties you in to an annual fee .
In the case of chris and halkyard/truecode , despite moving online he has stated that any old customers will continue to be able to use the licences they already own subscription free on the online portal , so will not lose any coverage and wont have to subscribe to continue using what they own. so you only subscribe if wanting to use what you dont already own and to get new coverage and new updated functions. he also doesnt ask you to pay for the new coverage and also pay subscription as well , the low cost subscription covers it all.
others charge you a fortune for the new licence and also charge a subscription on top for server access to use it , halkyard subscription is far cheaper than most and gives full access for the 12 month period , so a bargain compared to others.

For me subscription don't look like a bargain
I paid over 4k for full Truecode
now I can't see option to buy just new Ford so if I want to use it must pay 240 sub like someone that will pay 200 for the cable
So why I paid over 4k if someone that pay 200 will have better coverage?????
Chris must think about this or he will lost his old customers
the way i look at at it , and i have all truecode and halkyard HT leads and software too except for ht2 for fiat and all have paid back many times over so owes me nothing , is that the only difference for me is that i will need to be online and dont need to subscribe to use any of the functions i own ever .
what i dont know yet regarding the the new ford coverage , is whether this will be part of HT3 or HT3 add on licence or whether it will be a seperate function all together , if considered part of the HT3 or HT3 add on software then as i have these i will continue to use these free of a subscription charge .
Though i know what you are saying , you have paid 4k for what you own , why pay £200 a year subscription just to get a few new ford functions if a new customer pays £165 for cable then £200 a year for full access , so yes it does look unblanced if the case. though all that you own you dont need to pay a subscription for to use .
even though unbalanced i have to look selfishly at the payback and the profit to me , if i do have to pay £200 a year for the new updates then my decision will be an easy one , will the £200 payback quickly , then what profit can i make before i need to subscribe again , if better than using tokens on SP or better than using a different tool then i subscribe , if not then i dont and continue just using what i own.
its a tough one to call as still unclear what will be new coverage and what will be classed as part of an existing owned licence when new models years released.
maybe he has something planned for existing customers to balance this , i dont know , but times on my side as along time left before my offline truecode software expires and as far as im aware the HT3 , ht3 add on and ht4 dont expire at all offline if i dont update to online .
so my mind is open till i know all the facts.

Yes, continual revenue rather than big lumps of money occasionally makes companies look a lot better on their balance sheets and hence to potential investors/purchasers. Media(netflix, spotify etc) works by this method now, we're seeing it hit traditional retail with membership fees etc. Regular money in, with a growing subscription base is the goal now.
That said, I don't mind yearly subscriptions if it comes with commensurate development.
All of TrueCode's coverage will eventually be implemented into TrueCode Online.
The list is being updated as the functions are added.
An existing TrueCode Smart or Halkyard Cable can be used and assigned against the 12 Month Subscription. If you don't own either of these, new hardware will be required.
