Hi rob h Is the information in the two books really good or is it just marketing?
I am asking because I want to buy the two books, but I am afraid that it will be superficial and I will not benefit from it. Finally, what is your advice, should I buy the two books or not?
And thanks to those who gave me advice.
I bought them out of curiosity more than anything, the vast majority of the information in them is basic covering how to use the tool to do various things like program a key, read immo data, prepare dealer key and what all these terms we use mean. There's some more advanced stuff in there about recovering Benz FBS3 data from other modules and what is held where, and a little about BMW and what to do if a ISTA-P downgrade goes wrong. The primary audience is people who have bought a KTP without any prior experience of key learning in my opinion. If you know someone starting out it might be handy to chuck them a set as it will save you a lot of stupid questions!
Short answer is probably not if you've been programming keys before.
The books are definitely beginner content and will with careful reading and a bit of self-translation from the sometimes stilted English used by the Chinese it'll get you up to speed with terms, and the general workflow of programming keys. However don't expect a step-by-step manual for each and every car in here. Car security is very rarely revolutionary, it's an iterative design process over many years so you can always apply some of what you read in these books but there's a significant amount of problems which are not covered in these books which will confuse the hell out of you unless you go into understanding the how and why of the design and construction of the systems you're working with.
As I said in the post you quoted they're not bad, it's a very useful resource if you're starting out with auto work or just dabbled in it. For the more experienced user however they have limited value.
That said these aren't a manual on how to do this job, there's a lot that isn't covered in these two books. Fault finding, module replacement procedures, what to do when someone has buggered a car before you and many other things you'll learn as you go if you have the mind for these type of problems.
