    Default Volvo V40 vs V60

Have been asked to do a spare slot in key for a 2012 V60, smart pro is saying it can take up to 5 hours for PIN calculation?? Is this correct?
Have done a few V40's with the same type of key & smart pro takes about 10 seconds to add a new key & you dont even need to read the PIN.
Just checking before i have a look at it. Are the V40 & V60 different systems?

I think you've just been lucky before. These cars it's a brute force attack to find the password to program a key. It can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours.

In the Last year i think i have done 4 V40's (all spares) Each one with smart pro & it doesn't even try to read a pin, it literally just tells you to switch ignition off & remove key from slot, insert the new key you want to program & press OK, thats it job done. you can add without deleting too.
It just when i looked it up on MKP it says under the V60 menu it says pin is required & may take up to 5 hours, on the V40 menu it doesn't say this.

Perhaps your market is different. I've not seen a slot Volvo here in Aus without the requirement to brute force the password.

V40 using different CEM, there is a commonly used exploit kit which is able to extract the pin code thru can

V40 is exeption, only for this model it's possible to add key straight forward without trying to crack the pin code. That's for semi-smart key. If keyless, still need to remove CEM and KVM, unless you have TDB tool I believe

Suppose it wouldn't be too bad in a workshop environment where you could just stick battery support on start the process & crack on with something else.
Im guessing Vida doesn't need pin?

It certainly does but the dealer has it and it's retrieved from their server and sent to the car in the background by the tool.
