Question UPA-USB 1.3 clone Self test failure - Has anyone ever figured it out?

    Hey guys ,

I would like to know if anyone has ever managed to repair red USB-UPA 1.3 (clone) self test error? I am currently trying to solve this issue.

The problem is that when I run Self test by UUPROG software, test 20 fails everytime as there is higer voltage (4.01V but should be 3.00-4.00V) on Pin 2 (sometimes Pin 6 too). Other tests are passed.

There are multiple threads about this on the internet but basically every of them is really old and dead without any useful information. I have also seen a video on YouTube where guy has the same problem. But he has UPA with adjustible resistor, so he just tunes it and seems to work flawlessly afterwards. Mine UPA has regular SMD resistor (471).

Anyways, has anyone ever figured it out? Is there any guide or something about this problem?

    Hi
Has your UPA ever worked before? If it never worked before I think you can replace the resisitor with a potentiometer and adjust it to bring the voltage down. Or use a slighltly higher value resistor to bring the voltage down

Yes, the UPA doesn't work from day one. I was actually thinking the same about replacing the resistor with some kind of adjustable one. I will see what I can do. I got full refund and still have the UPA so it's worth to try. Was just curious if anyone did this before and maybe could give me some guide.

About 13-14 years ago I had similar problem with clone UPA 1.2.
I cannot remember if the test function was working, but programmer couldn’t read any chip.
Solution was to remove main 8 pin chip and put the new one with new data.
So I bought 24c128 chip, wrote new data on it, soldered back to programmer and it worked fine.
On other forum I got data… It took me about 7-8 months to send unit back to China and to get the new one back.

After that bad experience I decided to buy myself original and didn’t get any problem with it…
I don’t know if it’s going to help you… but just to consider as potential problem…
