Default Burning wii games to a DVD+RW?

So I went out and got some DVD-R blanks to burn a few wii games onto, to see if I could figure all this out, and it turns out my dvd drive can't read those or something. I've read that you have to burn them onto DVD-R blanks, and that things like DVD+RW ones won't work.

Is there any way to get them to work on a DVD+RW? Keep in mind I'm only softmodding, no mod chip.
