Pin 3 = Ground -
Pin 8 = 12 v+ pos
Pin 12 = Can high
Pin 13 = Can low

Can communicate with the cluster on the bench this way but it won't light up without the proper can bus simulator.

Yes you can communicate with the cluster and do what you need to do, it just won't light up on the bench.
