Default Dreambox Running off Wireless Dongle

    Hi

I was thinking of buying a dreambox 500s to use in a caravan over the summer, I have a portable satelite dish but no broadband feed.

I was wondering if I could hook my laptop up to a dreambox with a network cable and use a wireless dongle in the laptop to provide my broadband feed.

Has anyone tried this ? Will it work ?

I know that the dongle speeds for broadband are generally slower than a phone line feed and was wondering if this would make viewing glitchy.

I don't want to shell out and find I have gone down the wrong route.

    any suggestions would be helpful

    thanks

i'm running 2 boxes off a payg dongle from vodafone, or was as i've glitched on something else but thats nothing to do with this.

pc/laptop wireless, picks up wireless signal from vodafone r101 sharing dock, ethernet cable out of dock into home plugs i have 3 of these, homeplug 1,is incoming ethernet, homeplug 2 dm500s,homeplug 3 tm500 super, all works fine, before that, i had payg dongle in pc enabled sharing in network center and had ethernet out of pc into tm500, i was only running one box then, check your postcode against payg coverage, i've heard the 3 network is better, hope this helps you mate..
    1 metre dish,tm 5400ci super,tm 1500ci super,dreambox500s(currently a harsh learning curve)..

    dongle to laptop,
    crossover to Dreambox
    use DHCP

IIRC you may have to bridge the connections in your network settings after you have everything connected (although that maybe only if your laptop is connecting to internet wirelessly, not with a plugged in dongle)

sorry i couldnt be more help but its 3 or 4 years since i had the set up so its a little hazy
