Hi.
I was wondering if any Ford techs could shed some light on a problem I have been asked to look at by my daughter.

I, myself, drive an Astra G and am not really familiar with the Ford Focus.

The car in question is a 2005 Focus with 1.8 duratech diesel engine (1.8 TDCi).

The problem: The car displays a message on the information display "Engine System Failure" usually occurs when accelerating between 40 - 60 mph.

The Engine check light is not illuminated either at the time of error display or after.

The car did suffer with a overheating error which was attributed to a kinked water pipe between the expansion tank and the bottom hose which was restricting flow. The pipe was replaced and the overheating warning has not reoccured.

Internet searches have not revealed anything which is conclusive so I am looking for suggestions.

Unfortunately I do not have access to a Ford scanner but would presume, since the fault light is not on, that no "present" faults are logged.

Cheers
Graham
